ß-lactamase inhibitor extends ß-lactam antibiotic spectrum

• Amoxycillin diffuses readily into most body tissues and fluids with the exception of the brain and spinal fluid.
• Amoxycillin, active against Gram +ve & Gram -ve bacteria, susceptible to degradation by beta-lactamases
• Clavulanic acid inactivates beta-lactamase enzymes and protects amoxycillin from degradation and extends the antibiotic spectrum

• Urinary Tract Infections
